La base de données est complétée par une biothèque constituée de l'ADN et sérothèque cryopréservés des patients inclus dans l'étude afin de permettre des analyses génétiques et moléculaires chez les patients cirrhotiques. Database objective : The present database aims at enabling the study of the relationship between alcoholic cirrhosis or HCV-related cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma while providing information on the clinical follow-up of patients. Jean Verdier Hospital, Bondy, France Régional individuel individuals - cirrhose prouvée histologiquement - absence d'infection par le VIH ou le VHB - absence de carcinome hépatocellulaire (CHC) prouvé au moment de l'inclusion selon les résultats d'échographie négatifs et niveau d'α-fetoprotéine (AFP) sérique inférieur à 50 ng/ml - résidant en France - ayant accepté un suivi régulier et dépistage périodique d'CHC - d'origine caucasienne - formulaire de consentement éclairé signé pour l'usage de l'ADN cryopréservé - histologically proven cirrhosis, whatever the time of biopsy; - no infection from the human immunodeficiency virus or hepatitis B virus; - no evidence of HCC at the time of inclusion as judged by negative ultrasonographic findings, and a serum α-fetoprotein (AFP) level of inferior to 50 ng/ml; - residence in France; - acceptance of a regular follow-up and periodical HCC screening; - Caucasian origin; - written informed consent for the use of frozen DNA. All patients were followed-up and evaluated after their inclusion at a minimum of 6-month intervals by physical examination, liver ultrasonography, and serum AFP level assessment, and in case HCC was suspected: computed tomodensitometry, and/or magnetic-resonance imaging and/or a guided liver biopsy were performed according to the recommendations of the Barcelona Conference. HCC was diagnosed according to one of the following criteria: histological evidence or convergent demonstration of a focal lesion superior to 2 cm in size, and arterial hypervascularization, as assessed by two different imaging techniques, or a combination of one imaging technique that showed this morphological aspect plus a serum AFP level superior or equal to 400 ng/ml. La participation à l'étude a été proposée à tous les nouveaux patients référés au Service d’Hépato-gastroentérologie de l'Hôpital Jean Verdier correspondant aux critères d'inclusion depuis Janvier 1999 et est toujours en cours.
